Boyce Nyirenda

Meet Boyce. He knows what it’s like to lose family members to dirty water. That’s why he now works for WaterAid. As our Rural Programme Manager for Malawi, Boyce is doing everything he can to bring water to communities like the one he grew up in.

Boyce is a popular local figure. Not only does he work with WaterAid, but he’s also a preacher and church elder. He’s determined to help people change their lives.

Help Boyce bring safe, clean water to Bokola and Kaniche.

Ever since Boyce was a child, he’s seen dirty water claim the lives of the people he’s loved. Most recently, one of his children was very sick from diarrhoea. Boyce knows it’s part of daily life in Malawi but he’s determined to change it.

“They took us one day to one of the scoop holes where they draw water, and the water there looks completely brown. You can’t even wash your khaki shorts using this water… A cup of clean water has almost become a luxury in this community.”

Having a borehole could transform the lives of people in the area. It could mean people can focus on escaping poverty rather than just surviving day to day – and work towards a brighter, better future.

“Let me repeat this, your help and your support will help us transform the lives of men and women in this village. I thank you so much for your attention.”

Follow Boyce as he works with the community to make safe water and sanitation a reality this summer.
