Meet Dave

Dave Bichael

Meet Dave, 27. He and his wife Martha work hard to grow enough food for their young family. But they spend so long collecting water, they don’t have enough time to tend to their crops.

“The river is so far from here. It takes an hour and a half for my wife to collect that water. And she has to go four to five times a day, instead of working with me here at the house.”

Dave and his wife work hard to pay for medicines

For Dave and his wife, life is hard and hours working in the fields are long because they always need to earn money to pay their children’s medical bills.

“I feel bad, because the water we get from the river contains germs, so it makes my kids sick. Then when my kids get sick I need money to take them to the hospital.”

But Dave has high hopes for the future – he knows clean, safe water is a possibility now, and that one day he’ll be able to worry less about his children’s health, and grow and earn more.

“When you provide us with safe water the children will have a good future, because water is life”.

Keep checking back to see how safe water and sanitation help transform Dave’s family, life and livelihood.
