Mr. Khombe

Meet Mr. Khombe, 52. Mr. Khombe has lived in Kaniche for many years and witnessed slow progress. As Chairman of the Village Development Committee he's playing an active role in supporting the whole community to prepare for the day clean water comes gushing from the ground.

Mr. Khombe works hard. At 52, he farms his land to grow maize and groundnuts. He is an active headman in the village of Kaniche, a local mason and all round good man, showing leadership to the whole community.

“I am a proud member of Kaniche village. I will do what I can to ensure this village is safe from disease.”

Mr. Khombe was the first to build a new latrine, testing out the method shown to him by WaterAid’s field staff and he hasn’t stopped there.

“I am building latrines for my neighbours. I have mine, I am just waiting on the slab. Now I want to help those around me and show them how to build the best latrines.”

Follow Mr. Khombe this summer and see the role he plays in bringing clean water and safe sanitation to Kaniche.
